Leaf Litter Breakdown and Soil Microbes in Catalpa bungei Plantations in Response to Various Fertilization Regimes

چکیده

Litter decomposition propels the geochemical cycle by returning nutrients to soil. Soil microbial communities play an important role during litter breakdown wherein various fertilization regimes are conducted. In this study, we carried out a five-year experiment in young Catalpa bungei plantation northern China. The strategies employed mainly included integration of water and fertilizer (WF), hole (HF), no (CK) as control. We tracked dynamics leaf identified major involved for each regime. results showed that increased biomass C content litter, storage HF forest was higher than WF forest. Fertilization significantly decreased nutrient release prolonged duration breakdown. stand slower stand, but diversities bacteria fungi were community structures soil obvious differences compared those CK soils. strengthened competitive relationships cooperative interaction among microbes. abundances saprophytic decomposing lower key flora, including Arthrobacter Neocosmospora, regulated forests. addition, Arthrobacter, Filobasidium, Coprinopsis process nonfertilized Thus, studying initial quality treated with different measures exploring characteristics both significant value regard deepening understanding effects methods on their associated response mechanisms.

Litter Production Dynamic in relation to Climatic Factors in Tree Plantations

We studied litterfall dynamic of tree plantations in Dez River floodplain, at 14 to 15 years old. The plantations consist of Populus euphratica Oliv., Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehnh., E. microtheca F. Muell, Acacia farnesiana (L.) Willd., A. salicina Lindl., A. saligna (Labill.) H. Wendl., A. stenophylla Benth. and Dalbergia sissoo Roxb. Litterfall was different between the tree species, and le...

Reduced Diversity and Complexity in the Leaf-Litter Ant Assemblage of Colombian Coffee Plantations

Coffee agroecosystems have recently undergone a dramatic intensification in Colombia, a megadiverse country, especially in terms of the nature of shade cover. We tested for changes in the composition, ecological associations, and diversity of ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) along a gradient of intensification of coffee production in the Colombian Andes. We surveyed 16 farms in two regions, class...

Eucalyptus plantations affect fungal communities associated with leaf-litter decomposition in Iberian streams

The replacement of diverse deciduous forests by eucalyptus plantations changes the timing, quality and quantity of litter inputs to streams, which has the potential to affect the activity of decomposers and thus ecosystem functioning. Here, we compared (a) the decomposition rate of alder and oak leaves incubated in deciduous and eucalyptus streams in Spain and Portugal, (b) the activity (fungal...

Litter Breakdown and Microbial Succession on Two Submerged Leaf Species in a Small Forested Stream

Microbial succession during leaf breakdown was investigated in a small forested stream in west-central Georgia, USA, using multiple culture-independent techniques. Red maple (Acer rubrum) and water oak (Quercus nigra) leaf litter were incubated in situ for 128 days, and litter breakdown was quantified by ash-free dry mass (AFDM) method and microbial assemblage composition using phospholipid fat...
